Rabat, June 15, 2026 – The Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security is organizing, from June 15 to 19, 2026, in Rabat, a national workshop on cybersecurity regulation applied to the nuclear and radiological sector.
Organized in cooperation with the Office of Radiological Security, falling under the National Nuclear Security Administration of the Department of Energy of the United States of America, and within the framework of the action plan of the Training Center of the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security launched at the beginning of this year, this workshop is part of the ongoing efforts of the Moroccan Agency to strengthen the national regulatory framework for nuclear and radiological safety and security, in order to counter emerging risks and threats, including cyber threats.
Bringing together representatives from national institutions concerned with nuclear and radiological safety and security as well as cybersecurity, this workshop aims to support the development of a national regulatory framework for cybersecurity applied to radioactive sources, and to strengthen national capacities in identifying cyber threats and implementing appropriate protective measures tailored to the national nuclear and radiological sector.
Indeed, with reference to the guidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency and international best practices, cybersecurity constitutes a fundamental component of the national nuclear security regime.
It is worth recalling that by virtue of its statutory missions and in accordance with the provisions of Law number 142-12, the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security works towards the continuous strengthening and adaptation of the national regulatory framework to respond effectively to cyber threats and emerging risks.
Thus, the Moroccan Agency attaches particular importance to collaboration with the concerned national institutions and cooperation with international partners, with a view to promoting a cybersecurity culture, consolidating national capacities, and enhancing the resilience of infrastructures and activities within the nuclear and radiological domains.
The workshop program includes technical presentations, practical demonstrations, case studies, as well as exchange sessions focusing on cybersecurity (risk management, encryption, network security, inside threats, and the supply chain), as well as the physical protection of facilities and activities implementing radioactive sources.
