Participation of AMSSNuR in the day-conference on the Regulation of the Use of Ionizing Radiation, Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security in the Kingdom of Morocco

The Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR) was invited by the Dhar El Mahraz Faculty of Sciences of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University of Fez (USMBA), on June 4, 2021, to host the day-conference on the Regulation of the Use of Ionizing Radiation, Nuclear Safety and Security in the Kingdom of Morocco.

This one-day conference was organized following the agreement signed between AMSSNuR and the USMBA as part of the implementation of the theoretical and practical training strategy in the fields of nuclear and radiological safety and security and it dealt with themes related to the regulation of nuclear and radiological safety and security in the Kingdom of Morocco as well as the role of AMSSNuR and its Professors from the faculty as well as bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students participated.

Also part of the communication and public information strategy implemented by AMSSNuR, this meeting was an opportunity to highlight the legislative reference, in particular Law No. 142-12, as well as all the texts and draft regulatory texts aimed at the application of the said law.

During this conference, engineers and senior managers of AMSSNuR made several presentations in all its fields of intervention, namely: the national and international legislative and regulatory framework for the protection of workers, the public and the environment against ionizing radiation, the national and international legislative and regulatory framework relating to nuclear safety and safeguards, the legislative and regulatory framework relating to nuclear safety and the safety of radioactive waste management, as well as the management of nuclear or radiological emergencies.

Following the presentations, the open debate was very popular with the students, who asked various questions about nuclear and radiological safety and security.
